Hello! I’m Pera Fu from Hanoi, Vietnam. I'm a local guide in both the North and Central regions of Vietnam. I graduated from Hanoi University with a degree in Italian language in 2013.
Why Did I Choose Tourism?
Like many students, after graduating, I was concerned about my next steps—whether to start working immediately or take a gap year. Coming from another city, I needed a job to support myself. I decided to become a local guide so I could use my Italian language skills to showcase my beautiful country and its rich culture.
Through this job, I've developed many skills: extensive knowledge of various destinations, problem-solving during trips, and an expanded mindfulness. I still remember my first salary, which I used to buy a mobile phone and an antique bicycle. That felt amazing! The money we earn through hard work is always valuable.
Becoming a guide made me an open and confident person. Every day, I practice my English and Italian, as well as other skills like marketing, sales, and e-commerce. My journey is ongoing.
My Marketing Experience
I have worked in marketing for over 10 years. In Vietnam, parents often guide their children's future, including their studies, career choices, and marriage. Many people believe that being a tour guide is not a suitable job for a girl, and my parents were no exception. They wanted me to have a stable office job for their peace of mind.
Being a good daughter, I chose to work for a local agency in the tourism industry as a travel consultant and later as a marketing executive. I had to acquire new knowledge, understand the market, and meet customer needs. It was challenging and unfamiliar at first, but gradually, with the support of my great team and new opportunities, I achieved success.
I traveled extensively in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Italy to broaden my horizons and deepen my passion for my job. Along the way, I met many remarkable people who opened new opportunities in my life
Stepping Out of My Comfort Zone
My life was progressing smoothly with marriage, a baby, and work. Everything seemed fine, and our family was planning to buy a house in Hanoi. However, when Covid-19 struck, my life changed completely. Tourism came to a halt, and I had to quit my job and explore other fields like medical equipment, food and beverage, and commercial export.
This was a difficult and challenging period for many people, myself included. However, the pandemic pushed me to leave my comfort zone, discover new areas, and always have a backup plan. The most important lesson I learned was to prioritize health and maintain a positive spirit.
Continuing My Passion for Traveling
I am thrilled to introduce Peratravel.net, a dream that has finally come true after much deliberation. Starting from scratch, I had to decide between a stable job with a monthly salary and focusing on my personal projects.
